Why get married in Geneva, New York when we live in a town at the opposite end of the next Finger Lake to the east? We choose Geneva because it's a charming and picturesque city on Seneca Lake. It's also much closer to the Interstate Highway System (I-90) than Ithaca and hence, more convenient for many of our guests. Most of all, we choose Geneva because of Club 86. Club 86 has been owned and run by the Legott family for 70 years. We went there for a Mother's Day dinner with Jennifer's parents and younger brother and we were impressed with the setting, the service, and the food. (By the way, the reception dinner will be an Italian buffet, with lots of flexibility to accommodate different dietary needs.)
Two meetings with the owner, Bill Legott, plus learning about the club's heyday as a place to see some of the nation's greatest jazz musicians perform, convinced us we had chosen the right place to celebrate our wedding. Among those who performed at Club 86 were Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Louis Armstrong.
The officiant for our wedding ceremony is David Viggiani.
Entertainment will be provided by Christopher Washburn of Washburn Entertainment.
The wedding photographer is Chris Kitchen.
The doors at Club 86 will open around 4 p.m. on October 9 and the ceremony starts at 4:30 p.m. Club 86 is located at 86 Avenue East (sometimes called Avenue E), Geneva, N.Y.
We look forward to sharing our special day with you.
Thank you to everyone who made our wedding the happiest day of our lives. We are grateful to all who attended (and those who attended in spirit) for helping to make the day so wonderful. -- Jennifer and Gary Frank
